President advises CBSL to extend deadline to exchange defaced currency notes The Central Bank of Sri Lanka has been advised by President Maithripala Sirisena to extend the time period given to submit defaced currency notes, to March 31, 2018. Prior to this announcement, the CBSL made a declaration that defaced currency notes will be of no value after December 31, 2017.
